Mission
Organized in 1991, the mission of Friends of Hospice San Antonio, Inc. is to increase community awareness and understanding of hospice and to raise funds in support of patients and their families in end-of-life care.
Governing Board
Barbara Schneider, President, heads the governing Board of Directors consisting of 11 Executive Committee Members and 23 General Board Members.
Our Activities
Fund Raising
Fund raising dollars come from membership dues, grants, memorials, general donations, the Poinsettia Sale, the Poinsettia Ball, special occasion card sales, and the Valentine Luncheon and Style Show. It is used to support uninsured and underinsured hospice patients and to benefit the Hospice Inpatient Center.

Poinsettia Sale—December 1-9
Plants can be picked up or delivered to your home, office or as gifts to family and associates. Choose from red, white or pink.
1-9 Plants $13 each.
10 Plants or more $12 each.
Red Poinsettia Hanging Baskets $45.
Angel Tree
Make a $20 donation in memory or in honor of a family member and/or associate. An angel will be placed on the Angel Tree located in the CHRISTUS VNA Hospice Inpatient Center.
Holiday Cards
Instead of a gift exchange, send a beautiful holiday card in honor of your family and associates. The donation is $5 per card.
Educational
The annual Spring Education Program is for nurses, social workers, counselors and the general public. A Speaker’s Bureau educates the community about the "Five Wishes" program, a written plan for documentation of your wishes for care and treatment as you age. Call 210-785-5850 to book a speaker.
Spiritual
Friends of Hospice provides a prayer book for hospice patients and their caregivers which was developed by an ecumenical group of volunteers.
Volunteers
Friends volunteer for all fundraising and educational activities and helps with refreshments at the Hospice Memorial Service.
Memberships
Current membership is over 500. Membership in Friends is open to all persons interested in helping to promote and sustain superior hospice services in the community. Select a membership level and join today.
