Quality

CHRISTUS HomeCare agencies have a longstanding commitment to quality. The commitment focuses on regulatory compliance, consumer and customer satisfaction, and positive patient outcomes.

CHRISTUS HomeCare agencies utilize various approaches to monitor and evaluate the services provided.

  • Regular monitoring of clinical and operational processes helps ensure compliance with federal, state and accrediting bodies. CHRISTUS HomeCare agencies are accredited by the Community Health Accreditation Program, certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), and licensed by the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services or Louisiana Department of Health and Hospitals in their respective states.
  • Performance Improvement activities may be initiated any time a clinical or operational process is found to be ineffective. A team is identified to evaluate the process and develop an action plan to promote more effective outcomes.
  • Satisfaction surveys target patients, clients, physicians and referral sources.
  • Voluntary benchmarking activities allow agencies to compare themselves to other home care agencies.
    • Outcome–Based Quality Improvement (OBQI) Reports are generated by CMS based on assessment data submitted by our agencies on Medicare/Medicaid patients. They compare our agency with a national reference group of agencies with similar characteristics.
    • Outcome–Based Quality Management (OBQM) Reports generated by CMS compare our agencies with a national reference group on Adverse Events.
    • Home Health Compare is a CMS–sponsored Web site that compares agencies on 11 patient outcomes with a national reference group and with other agencies in their state.
    • CHRISTUS HomeCare agencies also partner with the quality improvement organizations in the states of Texas and Louisiana to decrease the rehospitalization of home care patients.
